Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.
Psalms 95:1-2

Music Ministry

We have a very active Music Department here at Lakeside. The adult choir rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7:30 in preparation for the Sunday morning service.

Special projects include a service on Good Friday called Tenebrae, which means "shadows". This service depicts the last hours of Christ’s life here on earth up to and including the crucifixion. The story is told with a combination of choral anthems and scripture readings. At the end of each reading one of seven candles is extinguished and the lights in the sanctuary are dimmed. At the end of the service there is total darkness representing Jesus being placed in the tomb.  This service culminates in the Easter Sunday services which celebrate the joy of the resurrection.

The Christmas season is celebrated with a cantata which includes readings and music, sometimes dance and drama. The choir performs this piece at the Abernathy Center in Newton on the Friday before the scheduled performance at Lakeside, usually on a Sunday evening.

Lakeside also has a Children’s Choir which rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:45 pm. The children participate in worship from time to time.

All are welcome to join any of our musical organizations. If you have a love for music feel free to try us out!
