2004 Appalachia Mission Trip - Day 1
Day 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | Home
We arrived safely at Harrogate and LMU this afternoon with great
expectations of the week ahead. After receiving room assignments at the dorm our next focus was to canvas the community handing out flyers and getting a renewed sense of the area and the work ahead. All worked hard in the heat and hills to make the best of our time available for promoting the VBS. We dodged the rain and even got to see some of our kids that we have seen in the past. After dinner we had Worship service in the Arena. Andrew from Lake Placid
will be speaking this week on Joshua. The focus in this evening's service was Spiritual Leadership. We opened looking at Psalms 19:1, 7-11 and Proverbs 30:5 to emphasize that God's word has the power to make you more like Christ. Moving on from there to the Book of Exodus, Andrew point out that Joshua was a leader and a servant. Every follower of Christ is a leader. People watch how you respond to everyday life. As a servant we are called to serve others. When we serve others we are serving Christ and when we are serving Christ we want to give our best. To be an effective leader you must dwell in God's Glory.Great start to what promises to be a great week in which the Youth are Spiritual Leaders sharing God's Glory with others. We all would like to thank everyone for their continue support. Your prayers and generosity mean so much to this group and they couldn't be here without your assistance. In God's service from Harrogate.
