This
is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according
to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us — whatever we ask
— we know that we have what we asked of him. —1 John 5:14-15
Jesus said that if you come to God and ask in His name, He will do it.
He will solve our problems. We come to Jesus Christ in the will of God because
He commands us to pray. And there are three major conditions that we need to
abide by when we pray.
1. We need to pray according to God’s will.
2. We need to pray believing God.
3. We need to pray asking in Jesus’ name.
Pray according to God’s will. It’s easy – if we ask anything
that’s clear in the will of God, we know that we have it.
For example, 1 Peter says, “be hospitable with one another without
complaint.” So it’s absolutely clear—that means that you don’t have the
right to complain about each other. Complaining people are not in the will of
God. We should learn to practice the will of God as we hear it in Scripture. And
James 1:15 says “If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask and God will give it
liberally.…”
Pray for God to help you to know his will and pray according to His will. Since we know that it is God’s will for your church to reflect His glory, pray that your community would see His glory through your church.
